NOTE: “Taking down” your Place bet is the same as “turning off” the bet. After the come-out roll, the button is no longer needed so the dealer removes it from your chips and your Place bet remains on and working until it wins or loses, or until you turn it off again. However, if you want it to remain “on” and working on the come-out, simply tell the dealer and he’ll put a little button labeled “ON” on top of your chips to indicate to the crew and camera that your bet is still working. The common rule among almost all casinos is that the Place bet is automatically considered “off” (i.e., not working) on the come-out roll of a new game. You can make or take down the Place bet any time you want, which is why it’s called a “standing” bet (i.e., it “stands” and works until you take it down or it loses).
